Michael Hsu, AIA, IIDA is the founder and principal of Michael Hsu Office of Architecture, an award-winning firm of forty-five architects and interior designers founded in 2005. Following graduation from the University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture, Hsu worked at OMA in the Netherlands before returning to Austin where he has practiced since 1998. The firm currently has offices in Austin and Houston, Texas.
Hsu is currently a member of the University of Texas School of Architecture’s Advisory Council and 2019 President of AIA Austin. His firm has received numerous design awards from the AIA Austin including 2016 Firm of the Year, Texas Society of Architects, AIA Los Angeles, IIDA Texas/Oklahoma Chapter, Heritage Society of Austin and was a finalist for the James Beard Restaurant Design Award. Their work has been featured in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Dwell, Conde Nast, Architectural Digest, Texas Architect, Texas Monthly, Garden and Gun, Metropolis and numerous other publications.
Michael Hsu Office of Architecture was formed with the goal of producing locally engaged, design-driven architecture and interiors. The firm advocates a simple, edited design palette, using creative materials and techniques to create unexpected results. MHOA believes in the innate beauty of unadorned natural materials, carefully chosen, composed, and crafted.
